クエストに取り組んでいる生徒の皆さん、先生方、サポーターの皆さん、こんにちは。
ウェンディ・コップです。私はTeach For ALLの共同設立者であり、CEOを務めています。Teach For ALLとは、世界中すべての子どもたちが、より良い未来を築くための教育・支援の機会を確実に得られるようにするために、一丸となって協同的リーダーシップを発揮する決意で結ばれた世界各国にある教育組織のグローバルネットワークです。
私は、皆さんがクエストを通して探究学習に取り組んでいることにとてもワクワクしています。私達が経験しているこの時は、世界中の若者や大人、そしてすべての人にとって非常に挑戦的なものでしたよね。一時期は世界中で15億人もの生徒が学校に行けず、その中の半数の生徒しか学習の機会を得られませんでした。本当に信じがたい現実です。
この状況は、今の世代の若い人たちに深刻な影響をもたらすリスクがあることはわかっていますが、一方で、私はこの状況を楽観的に考えています。なぜなら、私たち全員がいわゆる”今までの教育”から飛び出したことで見えたものがあるからです。凄まじいイノベーションや新たな可能性、テクノロジーを活用することによって、教えること、学ぶことが以前よりもっと身近になりました。また、保護者や働く人々、その他の教育に関わる人々が生徒の教育を一丸となって支援することで生まれた、教育の新しいかたちを目の当たりにしたからです。そして、私たち全員がいわゆる”今までの教育”を一歩下がって眺め、自分たちの時間をどのように過ごしたいか、何に取り組んでいるのかを本気で考えることができました。
つまり、今だからこそ多くの新しい可能性があるんです。その可能性を活用して、今日の若い世代の人々が実際により良い暮らしをして、平和と持続可能性、包括性のための私たちの願望のすべてを実現するための人材として育まれ、成長していくことは、完全に可能だと思っています。
しかし、ここで私たちは問われています。私たち全員が通常（ノーマル）の生活に戻ったとき、”今までの教育”という箱に戻るのか、それとも協同的なリーダーシップを発揮して、新たな可能性を最大限に引き出し、教育を全面的に再構築するために協力するのか、との問いです。私は新たな可能性を引き出すための行動をすることを決意し、皆さんや世界中の多くの人たちと一緒にその道を歩むことを楽しみにしています。クエストの皆さん、そして探求心と情熱を持った皆さん、応援しています！

Hello, Quest students and teachers and supporters!
I’m Wendy Kopp. I am the CEO and co-founder of Teach For ALL which is a Global Network of organizations in countries all around the world that are brought together by a determination to develop Collective leadership to ensure that all children have the education and support an opportunity to shape a better future for themselves and for all of us.
I’m so excited about what you all are doing at Quest studying together pursuing Inquiry Education. I know this era has been so challenging for young people and young adults and everyone really all around the world. It’s so hard to imagine that at one point, 1.5 billion students were out of school and that while out of school only half of them had access to any learning opportunities at all.
So we know and I know that the risk of just really severe setbacks to this generation of young people are very real and yet I’m actually really optimistic right now because I think that we’ve all collectively kind of stepped out of the traditional box of education and we’ve seen so much innovation and so many new possibilities, you know, new ways of leveraging technology to make teaching and learning easier and more accessible. We’ve seen new ways of making education a collective endeavor with parents and employers and other stakeholders supporting the education of our students. And we’ve seen all of us really step back and consider what we’re working towards how we want to spend our time, and I think that will and has enabled us to be all the more purposeful.
So all this to say, there are so many new possibilities now and I think it is completely possible that to leverage those possibilities and ensure that today’s generation of young people actually end up better off, that they end up thriving and growing as the people will need to reach all of our aspirations for peace and sustainability and inclusiveness. But there is a big question and that’s a question about whether we collectively will- when we, you know, go back to normal, step back into the box as it was or whether we will exert Collective leadership and work together to maximize all those new possibilities and reimagine education altogether. So I’m determined that we do that and really look forward to working with all of you and many, many others All Around the World in that pursuit. Best of luck to all of you at Quest and in your pursuit and passion for inquiry education.

Profile
Wendy Kopp is CEO and Co-founder of Teach For All, a global network of independent organizations that are developing collective leadership to ensure all children fulfill their potential. Wendy founded Teach For America in 1989 to marshal the energy of her generation towards expanding educational opportunity in the United States. After leading Teach For America’s growth and development for 24 years, in 2013, Wendy transitioned out of the role of CEO. Wendy led the development of Teach For All to be responsive to the initiative of inspiring social entrepreneurs around the world who were determined to adapt this approach in their own countries. Currently, the Teach For All network is comprised of partner organizations in 59 countries on six continents, including its founding partners Teach For America and the U.K.’s Teach First.
Wendy has been recognized as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and is the recipient of numerous honorary degrees and awards for public service. She is the author of A Chance to Make History: What Works and What Doesn’t in Providing an Excellent Education for All (2011) and One Day, All Children: The Unlikely Triumph of Teach For America and What I Learned Along the Way (2000). She holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, where she participated in the undergraduate program of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
